Highly Visible Veins? Eliminate Them with Spider Veins Treatment

highly visible veins

Highly visible veins, or the spider veins, are among the most annoying and common cosmetic conditions that cause patients to seek out a veins treatment. Spider veins treatment options are available that can permanently remove these unwanted blood vessels in a safe and effective way.

What are Spider Veins?

Spider veins are a type of varicose vein, or dysfunctional blood vessel. Your veins are blood vessels that are responsible for delivering blood back to your heart for reoxygenation. All veins contain one-way valves that prevent the back flow of blood into them. A varicose vein is a vein with a faulty valve that allows blood to pool in the vein, leading to the characteristic distorted appearance.

A spider vein is a very narrow type of varicose vein that may only be the width of a single blood vessel. Spider veins differ somewhat in their appearance from regular varicose veins. In addition to being much smaller, they tend to be red and present a characteristic branched or spider web-like appearance.

Spider veins do not typically cause any symptoms or indicate any underlying health problems. However, most people would like them to be removed using a procedure since they are considered to be unattractive.

What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a proven spider veins treatment for removing spider veins using a special solution that is injected into the dysfunctional vein. We inject a sclerosing solution into the problem vein that will irritate the walls of the blood vessel. This will lead to its eventual collapse and absorption by your body. Any blood that once flowed through this spider vein will then be rerouted into neighboring blood vessels that are healthy.

After your treatment, you may be encouraged to walk some each day. You may also be told to take other precautions. These can all be discussed during your consultation at our office.
